Services for Private Collectors and Institutions

Strickland Art Resources was founded by Barbour Strickland to serve the needs of private collectors and institutions in managing and caring for their collections.

Barbour is a graduate of Woodberry Forest School and Vanderbilt University and has been involved in the arts in North Carolina for over 30 years.

He was the director of the Greenville Museum of Art in Greenville, N.C. for 14 years, until his retirement in 2006.

In 2010 he was reappointed by N.C. Governor Beverly Perdue to a second term on the North Carolina State Art Society Board of the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh. He currently serves as president of the board.

He is the current president of the board of the Friends of the ECU School of Art and Design and serves on the board of the Pitt County Arts Council.


He is the author of The Art Owner's Handbook and The Art Emergency Guide.

He is preparing a book on the life and art of Francis Speight.
